We were looking for a unique vacation experience that would give us more than just the typical tourist attractions. We wanted to experience the local culture, people and history. Our timing did not allow us to plan and scope out the trip on our own, so we were looking for someone who could really understand our idea of a perfect vacation for a married couple and their adult daughter.
In working with Ancient Summit, we were asked about what type of vacation we wanted – archeological Peru sites, hiking the Inca Trail, recreational activities, culinary experiences, museums, etc. Our itinerary in Peru was planned specifically to address those particular areas of interest for us.
We had never been to South America, and decided on Peru after considering a number of other countries. There is no doubt we made a great choice – we were blown away by the personal experiences .
From the moment we arrived, we had personalized travel service and attention for each step of the journey – at all airports, hotels, and daily touring and logistics. One of the true luxuries of the trip was having a personal guide and driver each day. We really hit the jackpot with these two individuals, and they truly made our trip special. Each day brought a different adventure, with adequate time built in for us to relax and explore on our own during the evenings.
We had heard that the cuisine in Peru was rapidly becoming well known around the globe, but we were not prepared for just how fabulous it was. Our personal itinerary included four gourmet meals prepared just for us, in a tent at the base of the Andes, on the bank of a glacial lake where we had gone kayaking, in a private home, and with a chef in his top-rated restaurant. Now we know why everyone is talking about the food in Peru!
We all agree that our Peru experience was as good as any vacation we’ve ever experienced. The people, the sites, the food and the value for the US dollar made this a trip that greatly exceeded our expectations. Thank you Ancient Summit for such a memorable experience!
