Day 1  – Arrival Lima

Welcome to Lima – Private assistance to your hotel.

Overnight: LIMA

 Day 2 – Lima

Full day in Lima aka City of Kings. Get to know Peru’s captial. Visit the best museum in South America, the bohemian and the colonial sides and of course the perfect opptortunity to  sample Lima’s world class restaurants.

Day 3 – Lima to Cusco and Sacred Valley

Fly to Cusco.  Meet your private TEAM.  Travel at your pace as you journey from Cusco towards the picturesque Sacred Valley of the Incas to begin short visits for acclimating.

Day 4

History and archelogy abound in the Valley along with local life and stunning scenery. Visit Pisac Market and the impressive archeological site. Delicious home cooked lunch awaits you at an exclusive private home of dear friends and more….    Overnight: SACRED VALLEY

 Day 5 – More of the Magical Sacred Valley

Visit the moonlike Salt Mining Terraces Ponds, ancient, experimental crop circles and  lovely outdoor lunch in scenic area. Also visit a remote village whose inhabitants still practice their traditional lifestyle.

Day 6 – Sacred Valley & Express Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Scenic morning train to beginning of the  Inca Trail. Private hike at your own pace. Arrive into Machu Picchu via Inti Punku (Sun Gate) for your first inspiring views. Stay at the top tonight at the only hotel at the Citadel and immerse in the wonder

Overnight: SANCTUARY LODGE

 Day 7 – Machu Picchu

Exploring Machu Picchu with options for different climbs within. Reminisce about the wonders on the luxury dinner train back to the Sacred Valley.

Day 8 – Machu Picchu to Cusco

Travel back towards Cusco, the center of the Inca Empire and continue immersing in the history, archelogy, local life, culinary delights and more.

Private exploration of the fascinating and vibrant ancient city of Cusco with its ancient and modern sides.

 Day 10 – Lima to Amazon

Fly to the  Amazon city of Iquitos to begin the  4-night Amazon experience on board the luxurious Delfin I.  Gourmet dinner on board!

 Days 11, 12 & 13 – The Amazon

Enjoy Amazon  adventures with your Amazon naturalist guide and return to air-conditioned comfort and luxury.

Day 14 – Return to Lima and Home

Sunrise on the Amazon and fly back to Lima to connect with your flight home.

From Lima, we fly to Cusco to meet your private team who will soon become your best friends. We won’t hang around in CUSCO very long but Drive on a scenic route towards the sacred Valley and lower altitude to begin to acclimate. The next few magical days are spent exploring the places, people,  traditions and culture before making our way  to the  Inca Trail where we hike one day to arrive at Machu Picchu. You have come this far so we give you a full next day immersion visit to our wonder of the world before taking a special Old-world style luxury train back. Now we can explore Cusco, the capital of the Inca empire where we enjoy the eclectic mix of ancient tradition and modern vibrancy.

Now the long-awaited bucket list –  pink dolphins and three toed sloth‘s – you can only dream of comes to life as we fly to the Amazon for our luxurious cruise with Delfin  Amazon  Cruises.  Daily nature excursions along with returning to air-conditioned comfort and gourmet meals aboard.

 Day 1 – International Flight Day to Lima

Welcome to Lima – A warm welcome from an  Ancient Summit Team Member and private transport you to your hotel where we will assist with the check-in process.

Day 2 – Lima

Today you will be acquainted with Peru’s capital city with private tours including a visit to the Larco Herrera Museum, South America’s most coveted museum and also visit the Huaca Pucllana, a most amazing discovery of an ancient site smack inside the now very modern City. Today is the perfect opportunity to sample Lima’s world class restaurants.

Day 3 – Lima to Cusco and Sacred Valley

Today we fly to the to Andean Highlands and the city of  Cusco.  Enjoy your flight over the Andes. Upon arrival in Cusco you will meet your guide and your driver and begin your picturesque journey towards the Sacred Valley. We have not structured any definite tours today and depending on how you feel we can stop and have experiences. Today is your day to take it somewhat easy as a first day in the high altitude. Your guide is with you and will always go at your pace and be mindful of how the altitude affects you. There is so much to do and see in the magical Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Day 4 – Sacred Valley: Moray, Maras, Incan Salt Ponds and a Traditional Community

This morning, we visit Moray, an ancient agricultural exeperimental center,  Maras and the famous salt mining terraces  followed by a delicious picnic lunch at a super scenic spot. After lunch we visit an authentic village whose inhabitants still practice their traditional lifestyle. This is not a usual tourist stop but something we offer our visitors as this is one of the communities we are dedicated to working closely for sustainability and education of the children.    Our “Moms” welcome you for a demonstration of their ancient weaving tradition and you can participate if the spirit moves you. Nina’s son, Julio, runs the after school-learning center and is very committed to the children and looks forward to inviting you to their classroom. The documentary about our work was filmed here.

 Day 5 – Sacred Valley: Pisac and a Special Private Home Visit

Today as we continue exploring  the Sacred Valley realizing why the Incas called it “Sacred, visits can include, but are not limited to the Pisac Market, a traditional Andean Market (now fairly touristy but still interesting), as well as hiking around its stunning archeological site. A specially prepared lunch awaits you at the home of Nina’s dear friends in the Valley. Wonderful home cooking and seasonal ingredients come from their own organic garden. There will also be time to enjoy these lovely gardens. This home is not open to the public and you are welcomed as Nina’s special guests. After lunch and depending on how you feel we can talk about additional activities.

Day 6 – Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

Very early this morning you drive to the Ancient Fortress village of  Ollantaytambo. This site is one of the few places the Spaniards lost a battle during the conquest and might very well be the reason why they never found Machu Picchu!  From this village and with your private guide, board the Vistadome train for the panoramic journey to the starting point of your hike on the Inca Trail. Crossing the Vilcanota River via a beautiful bridge we arrive at Chachabamba, the first Inca site on the trek. Leaving this site, the path continues into a forest offering some welcomed shade. We reach a beautiful waterfall and continue to the Inca site of Wiñay Wayna (‘Forever Young’). The journey continues to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and your first inspiring view of our Wonder of the World! Photo time! Now the walk down through the Citadel and  exit to your hotel is just outside the gates.  Enjoy your evening in the magic.

Day 7 – Machu Picchu

This morning you can relax or wake up early for sunrise and the climb up to Huayna Picchu peak or Machu Picchu Mountain. and your hotel or rise early for your sunrise climb to the famous Huayna Picchu peak or Machu Picchu Mountain. Your  guide, who is now your best friend,  meets you at the Lodge to enter the Citadel and continue exploring our Wonder of the World. Today you continue to learn about this most amazing architecture and the mysterious temples to better understand the sophisticated ideas of this highly advanced culture. Lunch is served back at the Lodge and after lunch, you may be able to re-enter and continue exploring. It is a big place and so much to see but based on train times you choose.  When the train arrives to the Sacred Valley your now familiar driver will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel – either in the Sacred Valley or Cusco

Day 8 – Cusco

Today is your private tour of the city of Cusco. A city famed for its blend of Spanish and Inca cultures and has long been the inspiration for many an artist and chef.  Once the principal city of the Inca empire, and is now the undisputed archaeological capital of the Americas.  Today we can visit the Koricancha Temple, a classic example of the fusion of Inca and Western cultures. Sacsayhuaman, as well as several other iconic archeological sites can be visited.  Your guide always has more ideas and ways of showing you this incredible city based on your interests. Your evening is free, and you can wander out and explore.  Cusco is wonderful at night!

Day 9 – Cusco to the Amazon

Farewell until next time to the Andes and at the appropriate time we will get you back to the airport for your flights to the Amazon City of Iquitos. Upon arrival in Iquitos you are welcomed by a representative of Delfin Amazon and drive to the port of Nauta to begin your 4-night Amazon experience on board the luxurious Delfin I.

Day 10, 11 & 12 – Birds, Sloths, Pink Dolphins and So Much More!

Day 14 – Return to Lima and Home

A lovely last morning outing prior to bidding farewell to your Amazon home of the past few days. As we drive back to Iquitos and the airport, we will hopefully have an opportunity to visit the Manatee Rescue facility. When you arrive to Lima, we have a number of options depending on the time of your international departure. You may have time for another opportunity for another  meal at one of Lima’s  fabulous eateries or we could visit the Larco Herrera Museum and have dinner at their wonderful restaurant.

Lake Titicaca, Ballestas Islands, Paracas National Reserve, Nazca Lines and so much more! Add on additional visits to other astounding areas or add on a trip to Ecuador and the GALAPAGOS ISLANDS!
