Day 1 – Arrival Lima

Welcome and private transfer to your hotel. The location of your hotel will be decided based on your arrival time.

Day 2  – To Cusco and Sacred Valley

Morning flight to Cusco.   Meet your personal guide and “team” and  travel from Cusco towards the picturesque Sacred Valley of the Incas.  Overnight: Sacred Valley

Day 3 – Sacred Valley: Moray, Maras & the Incan Salt Terraces

Enjoy the very special ranch belonging to Nina’s dear friends.  Farm to table lunch and roast your own coffee beans and  craft chocolate  the traditional way.

Day 4 – Exploring the Sacred Valley:

Visit Ancient Incan Salt Mines and other special sites. Lunch in private home of our friends.

Day 5 – To  Machu Picchu on the Sacred Valley Luxury Train

Explore Ollantaytambo -intact  Incan town and its impressive archeological site. Board luxury train to Machu Picchu with gourmet lunch on board. PM guided visit to Machu Picchu.

Day 6  – Machu Picchu to Sacred Valley

AM visit back to the Citadel.  Option to climb Huayna Picchu or other point of interest inside the Citadel.  Return by  train to the Sacred Valley.

Travel towards Cusco with Pachamanca* Gourmet picnic lunch. Visit an authentic village, participate in a weaving demonstration and meet the children in our educational center operated and supported by Ancient Summit.

Privately explore the different parts of the fascinating and vibrant ancient city of Cusco, the Center of the Incan Empire.

 Day 9 – Cusco to Lima to Paracas

Fly from Cusco to Lima and continue by private vehicle to South to Paracas area.

Visit vineyard for tours and tastings. Learn about Pisco – the national liquor of Peru

Visit traditional local candy making workshop and craft your own.

Tour the Ballestas Islands “Peru’s mini Galapagos” and visit the Paracas National Reserve. Sunset toast on the highest sand dunes on the planet.    Overnight: Paracas

Day 12– Paracas and Lima

Local fish markets and meet a chef at the Yacht Club. Enjoy lunch with Chef. Return to Lima

Day 1: Arrival in Lima

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT: To Be Advised

Welcome to Lima - Just outside customs a member of our team will meet and escort you over to your hotel to assist the group with checking in. For convenience, tonight you will stay at the only hotel inside the airport so that you don’t have to deal with Lima traffic and assure a seamless transition for your flight to Cusco. Your body needs to be well rested in order to acclimate to the thinner air of the majestic Andes Mountains.

Day 2: Lima to Sacred Valley

INTERNAL FLIGHT: To Be Confirmed

We are back this morning to assist with your check-in for the flight to Cusco. Enjoy your flight over the Andes. Upon arrival in Cusco you will meet your local team, including your expert guide along with your driver, and begin your picturesque journey towards the Sacred Valley. We have not structured any definite tours but we do plan to have a few short, interesting stops along the way. Today is the day we prefer to take it easy as you are over 10,000 feet above sea level. That also means lighter food because the altitude slows digestion and the introduction of Coca Tea*. We will stop at a favorite eatery in the Sacred Valley for a light lunch but will relax at the hotel for the rest of the day and let the body acclimate.

Day 3: – Sacred Valley

Today we visit a hidden gem and working ranch belonging to Nina’s dear friend. Organic farming is key here along with the horses and many other projects. A ranch style, gourmet farm to table lunch will be served. After lunch, handcraft your own chocolate and/or coffee the traditional Andean way. We call this “from bean to delicious”.  These are not store-bought coffee & cacao beans – they come from the ranch’s own organic plantations in the jungle. Spending the day here is a true highlight of your time in the heavenly Sacred Valley. This is an exclusive private property that only privileged guests have access to.

Day 4: Continued Adventures in the Sacred Valley

Not to be missed are the ancient Salt Mines, the village of Maras and the fascinating agricultural experimental station at Moray which we plan to do this morning. After exploring, we have a specially prepared picnic lunch in a beautiful landscape and continued explorations this afternoon. Relaxing evening back at your hotel.

Day 5: – Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

This morning we drive to the ancient fortress village of Ollantaytambo. This is one of the few places the Spaniards lost a battle during the conquest and could be the reason why they never found Machu Picchu! From here we board the Sacred Valley Luxury Train where gourmet lunch is served as we enjoy our scenic journey to Machu Picchu Town (also known as Aguas Calientes). This town is perfectly positioned for the exploration of astounding Machu Picchu, Lost City of the Incas and one of the SEVEN Wonders of the World! This afternoon, we will ride up on the famous zig/zag road to the Lost City and visit as much as possible before the sunset bids us goodbye for the day. A kind of sneak preview and special delight for photographers in the dramatic light changes. Delicious dinner awaits back at the hotel.

Day 6: Machu Picchu to Sacred Valley

Early this morning, we ride back up to the entrance to Machu Picchu with the hopes of viewing the sunrise! At this time your guide discusses the amazing architecture, mysterious temples and the sophisticated ideas of this highly advanced culture. Lunch will be served back in Machu Picchu Town for a taste of the local fare. After lunch, the group will board the return train to Ollantaytambo station where your now familiar driver will be happily waiting to drive you back to your hotel. This evening is free time to reminisce about the wonders.

Day 7: Sacred Valley to Cusco With Sacred Food Rituals and Exploration Along the Way

Today, we begin the journey towards Cusco stopping to experience yet another fascinating gastronomic offering. A culinary exploration into the ancient and spiritual side of the food experience known as the Pachamanca. You will be intrigued and ultimately delighted by this ancient way of cooking in direct connection with Mother Earth. This will take place outdoors in a place with spectacular views.

After lunch and now full, happy and blessed by the Pachamanca ritual, we have planned a visit to an authentic rural community where the villagers still practice their ancient traditions and we again have the opportunity to participate in another cultural component of our adventure. Surrounded by striking natural landscapes and the Apus (mountain spirits), the village is not a tourist stop but an authentic local community and part of a non-profit project that our tour designer and Founder of Ancient Summit, Nina Fogelman is dedicated to. Ancient Summit works side by side with the villagers so that the COMMUNITY may go forth and prosper while maintaining the integrity of their indigenous culture. You will have an opportunity to observe and participate in weaving techniques that are some of the oldest in the Americas. (Please ask us about donations.) Nina’s son Julio runs our after-school learning center and this is the community where the Documentary, about our work was filmed. The day ends in Cusco at your hotel. Tonight you are free to explore the City and find a special place for dinner. We are happy to make suggestions. Cusco is a wonderful at night!

Day 8: Cusco

Today we will start with a walking tour through the streets of Cusco, the oldest continuously inhabited city in South America. A city famed for its blend of Spanish and Inca cultures and has long been the inspiration for many an artist and chef. Once the principal city of the Inca empire, and is now the undisputed archaeological capital of the Americas. Today we can visit the Koricancha Temple (Temple of the Sun), a classic example of the fusion of Inca and Western cultures with some of the most impressive Inca stonework in the city. We also plan to visit Sacsayhuaman, and possibly additional archeological sites as time and energy allows.

Also, an interesting and fun stop at the central market of Cusco. Here you will learn more about typical Andean food products, about all the different varieties of local vegetables, grains and meats, as well as intriguing mysticism still active within this culture. Lunch will be served at Kion for Peruvian Chinese Fusion (known as Chifa). After lunch there is more to discover and you have another evening to enjoy this special city.

Day 9: Cusco to Lima to Paracas

After some early morning free time in Cusco for possible last-minute shopping, we say goodbye to the Andes and return to the airport for our flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima we will drive down the South Coast to Paracas stopping for lunch along the way (not included) where you can order something typical from the menu.

Day 10: – ‘Pisco’ in Paracas

Today, back at sea level and a completely different part of Peru, we are ready for new discoveries. We will have the unique opportunity to visit the oldest vineyard in Peru – BODEGA TACAMA where we are invited by the Sommelier to the cellar and learn the interesting history of Peruvian grapes, wine and of course the preparation process for Pisco –Peru’s flagship drink and a spirit that continues to gain more international fans every day.

After this, we will head over to House of Tejas or “Casa de las Tejas, the much-loved Peruvian dessert. a Teja (pronounced TAYHA) is a dumpling-shaped confection from this region containing manjar blanco – a filling similar to dulce de leche and either dried fruits or nuts. Here you will learn about the history and evolution that surrounds this traditional Ica confection and participate in a hands-on experience of the elaboration of this traditional sweet and create your own.

Day 11 – Ballestas Islands and Sunset In The Desert

This morning is your boat tour to the Ballestas Islands “Peru’s mini Galapagos”. These islands have been eroded to form countless natural caves and arches. It is home to millions of sea birds such as flamingos, pelicans and Humboldt Penguins, all able to feed in some of the richest fishing grounds in the Pacific. We continue with a visit to the Paracas National Reserve, where you will be able to spot large groups of flamingos feeding on the shores. Later in the afternoon get ready for another memory to be created for you by riding up to some of the highest sand dunes in the world for a special sunset toast – our version of afternoon tea in the desert. Another great day to add to your Peruvian memories.

Day 12: Paracas to Lima

And our seaside adventures continue today with either a visit to a shellfish hatchery to learn about the breeding process as well as be able to have some tastings. Or we might accompany Nina’s dear friend Chef Ricardo on his search for the freshest seafood for his offerings of the day. We will have lunch at Chef Ricardo’s Tres Keros by the Sea before driving back to Lima.

Day 13: Lima

Today we will tour Peru’s capital Lima, also known as the City of Kings. which includes a visit to Larco Herrera Museum and time permitting other interesting stops with and time for last minute shopping. Lunch is at the world famous MAIDO Nikkei (cost not included). Your hotel is located in a very wonderful part of the City – Barranco. This area is considered to be the Lima’s most romantic and bohemian; being the home and working place of many of Peru’s leading artists, musicians, designers and photographers. We will help individually with dinner reservations.

Day 14 – Lima and home

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT: To be confirmed

This morning we can visit the local market in the San Isidro neighborhood of Lima. This market is known to have the freshest offerings in a very different environment from your visit to San Pedro Market in Cusco. Today’s lunch will involve food demonstration and tastings after which will be time to head back to your hotel in preparation of driving back to Lima Airport for your flight home.

Day 11 – Ballestas Islands and Sunset In The Desert

This morning is your boat tour to the Ballestas Islands “Peru’s mini Galapagos”. These islands have been eroded to form countless natural caves and arches. It is home to millions of sea birds such as flamingos, pelicans and Humboldt Penguins, all able to feed in some of the richest fishing grounds in the Pacific. We continue with a visit to the Paracas National Reserve, where you will be able to spot large groups of flamingos feeding on the shores. Later in the afternoon get ready for another memory to be created for you by riding up to some of the highest sand dunes in the world for a special sunset toast – our version of afternoon tea in the desert. Another great day to add to your Peruvian memories.

Day 12: Paracas to Lima

And our seaside adventures continue today with either a visit to a shellfish hatchery to learn about the breeding process as well as be able to have some tastings. Or we might accompany Nina’s dear friend Chef Ricardo on his search for the freshest seafood for his offerings of the day. We will have lunch at Chef Ricardo’s Tres Keros by the Sea before driving back to Lima.

Day 13: Lima

Today we will tour Peru’s capital Lima, also known as the City of Kings. which includes a visit to Larco Herrera Museum and time permitting other interesting stops with and time for last minute shopping. Lunch is at the world famous MAIDO Nikkei (cost not included). Your hotel is located in a very wonderful part of the City – Barranco. This area is considered to be the Lima’s most romantic and bohemian; being the home and working place of many of Peru’s leading artists, musicians, designers and photographers. We will help individually with dinner reservations.

Day 14 – Lima and home

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT: To be confirmed

This morning we can visit the local market in the San Isidro neighborhood of Lima. This market is known to have the freshest offerings in a very different environment from your visit to San Pedro Market in Cusco. Today’s lunch will involve food demonstration and tastings after which will be time to head back to your hotel in preparation of driving back to Lima Airport for your flight home.
